After seeing these cute recycled party items I’m annoyed that I didn’t plan ahead and make some with my kids. We could have had a little Earth Day party.

Autism is a developmental disability that remains with a person for his or her whole life. This condition affects the brain’s functions. The first signs usually appear before a child is three years old. Experts estimate that six children out of every 1,000 will have Autism and males are four times more likely to have Autism than females.
How is autism diagnosed?
Autism varies widely in severity and symptoms and may go unrecognized, especially in mildly affected children or when it is masked by more debilitating handicaps. Very early indicators that require evaluation by an expert include:
- no babbling or pointing by age 1
- no single words by 16 months or two-word phrases by age 2
- no response to name
- loss of language or social skills
- poor eye contact
- excessive lining up of toys or objects
- no smiling or social responsiveness.
Later indicators include:
- impaired ability to make friends with peers
- impaired ability to initiate or sustain a conversation with others
- absence or impairment of imaginative and social play
- stereotyped, repetitive, or unusual use of language
- restricted patterns of interest that are abnormal in intensity or focus
- preoccupation with certain objects or subjects
- inflexible adherence to specific routines or rituals.

There are so many applications out there that sometimes I get overwhelmed trying to find fun and educational applications for my 5 year old. After reading recommendations, and reviews I found a great resource for educational apps for preschoolers right through to older kids on a website called APPitic.
APPitic is a directory of apps for education by Apple Distinguished Educators (ADEs) to help you transform teaching and learning. These apps have been tested in a variety of different grade levels, instructional strategies and classroom settings. I think I stumbled on a goldmine for Apps because you are spoiled for choice. ;)
