MeeGenius, bringing books to life

MeeGenius is a virtual bookstore with a wide selection of childhood favorites. They have just launched a free application that allows you to read all your favorite books such as the Three Little Pigs, The Boy Who Cried Wolf and The little Mermaid on your iPhone or iPad. There are some great features in the application such as word highlighting and audio playback so your kids can read along as well. One feature that is cool is the personalization option. You can digitally change the characters names to your little one’s. Imagine her surprise when she hears The Little Mermaid called Sarah instead of April. The books are beautifully illustrated with clear and simple audio, and are very reasonably priced. This application is a must specially with the summer holiday just around the corner.

For more information check out their website.

My Father’s Daughter by Gwyneth Paltrow

GOOP is weekly newsletter filled with recipes, travel notes and advice by Gwyneth Paltrow.  I look forward to reading it every week. You can imagine my excitement when I found out that she just released a cookbook called “My Father’s Daughter”. In the book she  shares her favorite family recipes along with personal stories of growing up with her father, Bruce Paltrow. She discusses how he has influenced her in the food she loves, how she involves her kids in cooking, and how she balances healthy food with homemade treats. And, for the first time, Gwyneth Paltrow offers a glimpse into her life as daughter, mother and wife, sharing her thoughts on the importance of family and togetherness.

Even though I’m a terrible cook, I can’t wait to flip through it. ;)

You can purchase My Father’s Daughter here.

7 tips to sail through pregnancy with panache

1. Pregnancy is about super-accessorizing. This is the time to discover accessories and have fun with dramatic pieces.

2. Invest in thin stretch cotton basics like tees and dresses.

3. Spanx underwear holds bellybutton in.

4. Have your tailor open up trouser seams at the side and put rubber bands in. You can have them removed later.

5. Think lean: Have six great basics to work with and punch them up: Underlay and overlay jewelry, belt a sleek cardigan under the bump, wear big bags.

6. Empire waist, shifts and A line dresses are silhouettes that flatter a pregnant body.

7. Don’t be afraid of happy colors and prints.

PopOut! The Tale of Peter Rabbit

Beatrix Potter classic tales used to be one of my favorites when I was a kid. I had the whole collection and used to love looking at the illustrations and pop ups. Now with technology and the iPad something new has been introduced that is going to change the way we see pop up books forever.

PopOut! The Tale of Peter Rabbit is an e-book app created for the iPhone and iPad.

I think it’s an outstanding rendition of a pop-up book. Smashing the berries really brings the text to life. I can’t wait to see what my boys think of it.I probably will be hogging the iPad most of the time! :)

I will still  encourage my children to read books the traditional way, but the iPad is the future and I must admit it is perfect for traveling ;)

You can purchase PopOut! The Tale of Peter Rabbit through iTunes
