Lady bird classics – bringing back childhood memories

“Ladybird Classic Me Books is an app of pure nostalgic joy, offering a treasure trove of golden childhood memories.” I couldn’t have said it better. Some of my favorite childhood stories are available on this application and while playing around with it I couldn’t help but smile. My kids are very familiar with some of the classics but having them on the iPad were we can record our own narration, sound and characters voices is just brilliant!

When you purchase the application you automatically get The Zoo book. You then have the option of  purchasing more lady bird classic at a reasonable price.

Read.

Me Books brings the picture book app experience back to reading and telling stories. We’ve added nothing to the books themselves, just a new way to bottle the creativity and imagination they inspire.

Listen.

Classic stories are brought to life with charming narration from well known voices along with enchanting sound effects. Simply touch the words and pictures to hear them.

Record.

We all know you tell the best stories and do the best voices so Me Books lets you do just that. Add narration, record individual words to help new readers or use the pictures to craft your own tale.

Play!

Playing with books is a brilliant way for children to develop their creativity, language and literacy. Me Books allows them to express themselves which isn’t just important, it’s a downright hoot.

MeeGenius, bringing books to life

MeeGenius is a virtual bookstore with a wide selection of childhood favorites. They have just launched a free application that allows you to read all your favorite books such as the Three Little Pigs, The Boy Who Cried Wolf and The little Mermaid on your iPhone or iPad. There are some great features in the application such as word highlighting and audio playback so your kids can read along as well. One feature that is cool is the personalization option. You can digitally change the characters names to your little one’s. Imagine her surprise when she hears The Little Mermaid called Sarah instead of April. The books are beautifully illustrated with clear and simple audio, and are very reasonably priced. This application is a must specially with the summer holiday just around the corner.

PopOut! The Tale of Peter Rabbit

Beatrix Potter classic tales used to be one of my favorites when I was a kid. I had the whole collection and used to love looking at the illustrations and pop ups. Now with technology and the iPad something new has been introduced that is going to change the way we see pop up books forever.

PopOut! The Tale of Peter Rabbit is an e-book app created for the iPhone and iPad.

I think it’s an outstanding rendition of a pop-up book. Smashing the berries really brings the text to life. I can’t wait to see what my boys think of it.I probably will be hogging the iPad most of the time! :)

I will still  encourage my children to read books the traditional way, but the iPad is the future and I must admit it is perfect for traveling ;)

You can purchase PopOut! The Tale of Peter Rabbit through iTunes
