“JUMPSTART NUTRITION!” A Nutrition course  for 7-9 year olds will start Today May 29th ending June 12th!

Join our doctor and nutritionist to learn about food and balanced meals in a fun and interactive way! Students will discover

*food groups and their importance,
*the new USDA guidelines of MYPLATE
*know how to create a balanced breakfast and snack.
*They will also learn to visualize portion sizes
* learn about food labels and how to make choices!
We will meet twice a week, Tuesdays and Saturdays from 4:30 to 6:30pm. Our course is 10 hours long.

Breastfeeding workshop in Kuwait

Join BirthKuwait, La Leche League of Kuwait, The Breastfeeding Support Club, and Kuwait Lactation Consultants for a breastfeeding workshop.

The first part of the meeting will be about the state of breastfeeding here in Kuwait, and will then spend the rest of the meeting providing mothers with everything they need to know to breastfeed successfully. They will also be availalbe to answer individual questions.

All these scenarios are likely here in Kuwait where the exclusive breastfeeding rate at 3 months is only 12%. So the decision to breastfeed is counter culture, with large marketing industries and social pressures trying to convince you to do otherwise. For those of us who were raised by hippies…or at least mothers who believed everything that was natural was better (garlic paste under the feet or in drinks for illnesses, comfrey tea for congestion, homemade home-ground wheat bread)…it was a decision that was second nature. A free antenatal class today at Sadu House

The ladies behind BirthKuwait have been very busy! I wish they were around when I was pregnant. They will be hosting a Coping with Labor FREE class at Sadhu House today. By attending the class you will learn about different ways to cope with labor from your head all the way down to your toes. Taught by Midwife and Doulas experienced with supporting mothers in birth. If you are pregnant one would like to learn more to support your pregnant friend or sister then I would highly recommend you attend.

The class starts at 5pm and will be in English and Arabic.

The Little Gym’s Summer camp begins June 10th and continues until Aug 30th, it’s offered Sun – Thur and you can choose the morning time from 9 – 12 or afternoon from  4 – 7, during Ramadan the morning will be 9 – 12 and afternoons will be from 2 – 5, we take kids from 3 – 12 yrs and under 3 yrs needs to be accompanied by an adult, no charge for nannies.

Kuwait Riding Center Summer Camp. If your kids enjoy riding and love being around horses then this camp is for them.

The camp is 1 hour  day, it includes 30 minutes riding lesson and 30 minutes of stable management.

The Annual Spring Bazaar

Enjoy the weekend with an early breakfast and then head down to the annual spring bazaar. It is a great place to find unique items and socialize with some of the amazing vendors.

Children hanging out of car windows!

As parents it is our job to keep our children safe. When I see kids hanging out of car windows I wonder to my self  how can a mother/father put their children in such risk ? Don’t they know that god forbid any sudden break while their children are hanging out the window would have tragic consequences ? I feel like a lot of parents don’t take car safety for their kids seriously. We see kids jumping around the car, sitting in the front seat, no seat belt, no car seat and to make matters worse have them hanging out of car windows. This is a daily scene in Kuwait and it makes me so mad!! Something has to be done about it.
