Spring Camp at My Gym

Spring break is just around the corner and I’m one of those parents that has to have something planned for her kids in the morning. I refuse to have him sit around the house doing nothing specially when I have to go to work in the morning.

When I asked Nodi what he wanted to do he answered right away MY GYM! and of course My Gym are having a Spring Camp, YIPEE!!

My Gym Camp is simply the best! Children participate in energizing fitness games, noncompetitive gymnastics, sports, music, keeping them on their toes all morning. Each camp program is uniquely designed to keep your children moving and active. They emphasize on physical development and personal success which is what I love about them.

Morning Spring Camp starts March 31st for ages 4 to 9 years old from 10am to 1pm! Keep in mind Space is limited.

For more information check out their Facebook page, or call them on 99114373. You can even follow them on twitter for their latest news and updates.

The power of yoga during pregnancy

One of the best pregnancy exercises usually suggested by doctors is yoga. Yoga teaches you to connect fully with your body and growing baby. It stretches the body, relaxes the mind and calms the senses. Studies have shown that women who practiced yoga during pregnancy have had a less painful and shorter delivery.

Check out this yoga  video By Dr.Cathy from Educated Pregnancy

Note: Always check with your doctor before beginning this or any workout program during pregnancy.

A hiking we will go

Today we went on a little hiking trip as part of outdoor summer holiday. McFizzle had the best seat. Snuggled up in his carrier with a great view of everything.

It was a fabulous day for a hike. The weather was perfect, a little bit hot at some point but then a cool breeze would pass and make it all better. I actually got a nice tan from it as well.

Battle of the baby weight

While I was pregnant I made a vow to my self that I would loose all the baby weight by the time my son turned 6 months. But, juggling my own business, toddler and baby, the first thing that fell off my to do list was my own goal. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not making excuses for my self! Now my baby is 8 months old, I still don’t fit into any of my old clothes, and just the thought of going to the gym gets me into panic mode! Enough is enough! Yesterday I took my first step to achieving my goal by visiting a nutritionist. I have a set diet for the next week and I will be attending a Zumba class as part of my exercise regime and hitting the gym, which I’m really looking forward to :/

Of course there is no way I’m going to tell you how much I weigh, lets just say I need to loose a minimum of 10 – 12 Kilos, Yikes!!!

I’ll keep you all updated on how it goes. Wish me luck! 🙂

Benefits of cooking with your kids

The best way to teach your children how to eat healthy and have the ability to choose the right foods is to start in the kitchen. Letting your little ones help you out around the kitchen is said to get them more excited about eating what they helped make.

Here are 10 reasons why you should do cooking activities with your kids.

  • Learning to cook helps kids to learn about nutrition and healthy eating. They are growing up with fast food and junk food at their fingertips, which is part of the reason why child obesity is on the rise! Teaching kids to cook will help instill skills to last them a lifetime.
  • Boost their self esteem. If your child needs a boost of self confidence, (and who doesn’t!) cooking in the kitchen will do just that. They are accomplishing a task, learning something important and contributing to the family.
  • Create family time and bonding. Take time to cook with your kids and they will have memories that they, in turn, can pass on to their families. It may take a longer time to get the meal or snack done but the moments with your children will be priceless. (Just remember to have patience. Don’t worry about flour on the floor or spilled milk).
  • Kids will be more apt to eat what they make. Perhaps, it is the enthusiasm of creating something themselves, but they will be more likely to eat whatever they had a hand in making.
  • Kids learn real lessons in science, language, math and creativity. Cooking will help reinforce all these subjects!
  • What a great way to learn life skills. This can be especially helpful when kids are on their own and won’t have to rely on fast food and junk food to sustain them.
  • They can help contribute to the family and they can feel the importance of helping.
  • They are working together as a team, whether it is with a parent or with a sibling to get the job done.
  • Cooking teaches them planning and making choices.
  • Practice creativity and imagination. Kids cooking activities are a great way to express themselves and enjoy their creation
